As part of the Europe Day <\/strong>on May 9th, which focuses on peace and European unity, EUNIC Norway (European Union National Institutes for Culture<\/a>) collaborates with StorySLAM Oslo to bring you a special international edition of the StorySLAM-competition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As in previous years, we invite you to step on stage and share your personal stories about Europe. Whether funny, reflective, or unexpected: we want to hear your voice!<\/p>\n\n\n

To help you prepare, we\u2019re offering two free workshops<\/strong> where you can develop your stories and learn how to craft an engaging performance for an audience, guided by our partners StorySLAM Oslo: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

23 April (18:00-20:00): Introduction to storytelling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

30 April (18:00-20:00): Developing your story for performance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does entertaining storytelling in front of an audience work? What makes a good story out of a personal experience? What can you pay attention to when presenting something to others?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop is open to everyone \u2013 with or without storytelling or stage experience. Participating in the workshop does not require also taking part in StorySLAM or presenting yourself on stage but is also a great way to get a taste of the art of storytelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9 May (from 19:00): Europe Day Story Slam<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 9th<\/strong>, you\u2019ll have the chance to present your story at the public Europe Day Story Slam<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

StorySLAM is a live storytelling competition<\/strong> in which the participating storytellers each have 8 minutes to present a true story from their own life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes are not allowed \u2013 the stories are supposed to be told and not read. After each story, the storytellers get a score from 1-9 by several juries, including an audience jury. The three best participants make it to the finals, where they must tell a new story within 3 minutes. Then, a winner is chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will be held in English<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme is: \u201cLost in translation.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe is home to hundreds of languages\u2014and even more stories. We encounter this every day: when we speak multiple languages, learn something new, work internationally, or watch our favorite shows in their original language. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what really happens when we move between languages? Does it change who we are\u2014and what we discover in others? Can it lead us into trouble, unexpected discoveries, or teach us something new? The stories will explore these questions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– You may attend one or both workshops;
– Competing in the public Story Slam is optional;
– All events are free and no registration is required!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
