Jean-Yves Machond, a painter who is globally unknown and generally unhappy, decides one day to change his life. He goes in search of inspiration in a small town in Normandy, hoping to create a masterpiece that will finally bring him fame and eternal recognition. But his encounter with the local artists -from the warm-hearted Bagnoule to the talented Cécile- will lead him somewhat off course and confront him with his deepest dream: simply to be a happy man.

1972. Ilie Năstase wins his first US Open, reaches the finals of Wimbledon and the Davis Cup, and makes tennis history. Nasty explores his highs and lows, the controversies surrounding the world number one in 1973, and the true impact he had on global tennis. Charismatic, charming and generous, but also temperamental, arrogant and rude, Năstase shook up the sport’s old-fashioned etiquette with his flair and showmanship on court. He became tennis’s first rebellious rock star.

Riga, in the 1960s. Telephone technician, poet and amateur composer Cēzars Kalniņš plays in a band with friends. According to Anita Sondore, a cultural official, the lyrics he has written go against public morality. She prevents the songs from being presented to the public. The public commission that debates the young author’s work becomes an allegory of a silent yet highly influential opinion, whose devastating impact cannot be stopped.
