As part of the 2026 European Heritage Days, held under the theme “Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reinvent”, EUNIC Norway, the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage (ALIPH) and Kulturvernforbundet are joining forces for an evening dedicated to the protection of endangered cultural heritage.

On 7 September from 17:00, we invite you to Factory Tøyen for a panel discussion bringing together professionals and actors working to preserve cultural heritage. The discussion will explore the challenges facing heritage at risk and ways to protect, preserve and pass it on in a context shaped by conflict, climate change and natural disasters.

The discussion will be followed by the opening of “Portraits of Women – Beyond the Stones”, ALIPH’s photography exhibition highlighting women around the world who work to safeguard threatened cultural heritage.

Architects, archaeologists, site custodians, museum curators, craftspeople, art historians and conservators: these women are on the front lines of protecting not only monuments, sites and collections, but also intangible cultural heritage, which is essential to the memory and identity of communities.

Through their portraits and stories, the exhibition pays tribute to their expertise, commitment and courage. It highlights the women who work every day to preserve cultural heritage and ensure that it can be passed on to future generations.

The event will be held in English.
