The French curatorial duo Pierre-Alexandre Mateos and Charles Teyssou will hold the lecture «Alice in Wonderland, Falling Down the Glory Hole» on March 29th at 6:00 PM at ROM for kunst og arkitektur in Oslo!

Glory Holes have had a seminal role in reframing how one can understand architecture as libidinal practice. By tracing the history of the glory hole from the toilet to the sex club, this presentation will examine the cultural and political significance of the latter and its context of birth, the toilets, through a genealogy of artistic examples.

Based in Paris, Pierre-Alexandre Mateos and Charles Teysson are curators of the first edition of Art Basel’s Conversations at Paris + in October 2022. Their current projects include Paris Orbital, a public programme at the Pinault Collection – Bourse de Commerce on the links between Parisian mythologies and pulp culture, a publication on homosexual cruising with HEAD (Geneva) and Spector Books (Leipzig), and the presentation of their research Arles Terminal City commissioned by the LUMA Foundation (Arles) at the 2022 edition of ARTBO (Bogota). They are preparing an exhibition on Sybille Ruppert at Blue Velvet Projects in Zurich and on the poet Zoë Lund in 2023 in Paris.

This event is part of the Queer City exhibition, running from March 10th to April 2nd, 2023 at ROM for kunst og arkitektur.
